Right on the home page here.. Vox grabbed Clear Channel's Burlington cluster of stations including Star, Champ, Zone, and 92.1, The True Oldies Channel.. Champ is the house that Barlow built from scratch ! This should prove to be a great happening for the market. Congrats !

Oh goodie! The return of "MORE is more"! Let's all raise a glass to the 25 or 30 minutes of spots we'll be hearing every hour, without musical interruption.

Wow!!! This is big! 8.0 on the Richter scale. Talk about full circle. The folks at Hall must be crapping their pants.

Isn't Barlow back with $hapiro? This is huge. So, with the Chump simulcast in the UV we'll have Vox vs $hapiro vs Nassau. This could be fun!

Glad to see someone still cares about radio.

few questions I had while I was at it...

How's the White river Junction/Lebanon/Hanover Clear channels doing?
did someone ever buy those? Rock 101.7 has been a complete train reck recently where the 5 seconds of dead air continue about every thirty minutes.... no silent alarm ain't gonna catch that! I will give whoever is in charge that a least its playing rock but I guess they never listen to it!!!

How about the Augusta ME Market? I believe thats TOS's Market I am not sure tho.. Last I checked they were pending sale to Good Radio... who the hell are those guys anyways? and will I ever hear rock again on TOS when the sales complete whenever the hell that might be....?

Jamie, from the "Harvard on the Hill".. Here's a couple of answers fer yah..
1) The former Clear Channel Stations in Lebanon NH were purchased by "Great Eastern Radio".. I wonder if that was named as a nod to the "Great Eastern" trail at Killington ?? I suspect that under local ownership with a very known group of people, they are doing well. In regards to Rock 101.7, it's a short timer eventually on it's way to Keene.. I'm sure the 'moving van' in getting packed..
2) GoodRadio was set to purchase a bunch of the 'departing CC markets, including the Maine stations, Burlington, Binghamton NY, and others.. GoodRadio ran into some difficulties, and the deal was basically in the big picture, withdrawn.. WTOS-FM and a lot of those CC station groups are still for sale.. I'm sure WTOS-FM will still be rockin' as ias always been from the top of Sugarloaf USA.. ;)

Jo Jo is correct. Why bother taking care of 101.7 at this stage? Any of the advertisers on the station will probably have no interest when it moves to Keene. Who is the current PD? Has anyone heard anything new about this supposed move? Is this really going to happen....or will this signal be sold?

I hope Tos is here to stay as well as Rock 101.7 Changing frequency soon.. I don't think there is a PD for 101.7. I wonder if their going to do patriots post season playoffs ???
Unfortunately I am moving off campus to an Apartment in ST. Jay in the coming weeks.. Tos only comes in St Jay as well as most of the I-91 Corridor for 100 Miles when at full strength or during DX.. so Hey if the signal get fixed I am can listen on My commute up I-91... i really hope they fix the signal soon. I have a caller who calls in from the Augusta ME area on one of my radio shows every week. I sometimes ask him how my favorite rock station is doing ( not saying the name... ) recently he is reporting the same issue as me trouble with the signal.
I be heading up there tonight for only saturday so I'l check if TOS exists... I'll probably ask my favorite call in Guy from ME how reception is doing.
don't think I'll be doing my college show this week because I am so buisy with work in CT/NYC.. to pay for the trips
( I hope my boss doesn't read this post ;) )

No partying for you at the "Packer" when you move to S. Jay :p

Just to make sure this does't get way too off topic.. At least in St, Jay, and the rest of the NEK, Vox will get WEZF, which arguably has the best commercial FM signal licensed in VT.. Nice save, eh ??

It's funny how things happen. Ken Barlow was the guy who signed-on and created CHAMP and 96.7 before it was sold to Capstar. Now he gets them back. Plenty of people in the building think it's a positive thing and lots of radio people in the market seem to be glad some local ownership is back. Barlow always shakes it up so it'll be interesting to see what happens. About time we had some shakin' it up in Burlington radio!

Unfortunately the crumbling empires of Big Box Broadcasting have left behind a legacy of economy of scale that the regional companies will have to follow to turn a profit. It’s still going to be mostly satellite and mostly automated…

Let’s all hope that a trend toward community radio begins to make economic sense in the broadcast industry .

maybe we can bribe VOX to make WEZF rock... :-\ there's nothing here in the NEK except WWLR and quite frankly, WWLR with new student;s who kinda don't listen to what people want I have been under f pressure to Play indie rock.. If its to the point overkill I will proudly leave this place!

JO JO... I am hanging on the hill chillin on WWLR for a couple hours before I go back to CT Playing whatever the hell I feel Like
Gotta love college radio ;)

Jamie, from the Harvard on the Hill, you always have a very unique way of spinning every radio happening in the known universe and bring it right home to you in the NEK.. :D.. If St. Jay / Lyndonville had the same population or revenue stream as Chittenden County, you may be onto something. Until then, it's The Impulse, WMTK, WTOS, 99-9 The Buzz, WBLM, CIMO-FM, and whatever else you can pull in from those majestic heights overlooking beautiful Burke Mountain.. Burke must be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet right now !! :D

Jamie....why don't you stay on the topic of the thread ever? If you want to go in a totally different direction focusing in on why stations in Burlington...market #136...should be targeting the Northeast Kingdom then start a new thread. It's annoying, man.
