WOW! What a rough start for Rush Radio 94.5

Not sure how the transition from Spanish to talk was suppose to go, but it sure was rough on air. The old format and new formats on at the same time, then two different legal IDs, the first, WPTI, then under that, the old format call sign, WGBT. Then the same English language commercial ran twice with Spanish underneath, followed by dead air, then joined Fox News late and the audio was very hallow. The more dead air, then the audio leveled out and then the Rush Limbaugh show started.

CC can't be too happy with that start with all the hoopla they have put in to it.

It matters not one bit. Even if everyone was listening it doesn't matter. Never did matter to listeners. This kind of thing only matters to radio people. And even then...it doesn't really matter.

I'm curious to know how many Latinos complained.

I heard the commercial for HD and know what that means, but the tower is so far away from a lot of the listeners I don't imagine they can pick up the HD.

Truth is it doesn't matter.
What does matter is how it sounds NOW.
Bill and Pamela sounded pretty good this afternoon a great flo for first time together and sounds like callers are excited about the FM signal.

I just wonder how in the hell CC couldn't make money with the Spanish format...

Now, that's a GOOD question

They sure sold a lot of commercials. And a lot of the businesses didn't translate their names into Spanish, so I knew what the commercials were for. Plus I had two sememsters of Spanish in college and recognize a few words.

It amazes me that listeners of that station would be able to afford high-speed Internet. Those who have the money would surely speak English, although I imagine the music and news of their culture is what makes them happy.

Is the change to WPTI official?

So what you're saying is that A) radio people don't matter and B) radio doesn't matter.

My very words.

I thought Rush started on 94.5 on January 1. They started carrying the show a day early? Wasn't it in WPTF's/WSJS' contract to carry Rush until December 31?
