Now that WLIR's nine lives have apparently run out, perhaps you are looking for an alternative to WLIR's online stream? Consider VINTAGE from WOXY.COM.

WOXY.COM has long been considered a leader in online ultra modern music. Last Memorial Day, Mike, Barb, Shiv and Bryan introduced the VINTAGE channel. According to the VINTAGE web site:

"Welcome to WOXY Vintage, the first new 24/7 streaming channel from WOXY.com dedicated to the history of Modern Rock, Alternative and Punk music. You'll hear nearly 30 years of adventurous, innovative and influential music from The Velvet Underground, The Clash, Talking Heads, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and much more. Consider it your Modern Rock primer."

Below is a sample of the last 10 songs played today on WOXY.COM VINTAGE:

12:07pm They Might Be Giants - S-E-X-X-Y
12:00pm Roogalator - Cincinnati Fatback
11:58am Elastica - Stutter
11:55am Hooters - And We Danced
11:49am Juluka - Scatterlings Of Africa
11:45am The Special AKA - Free Nelson Mandela
11:39am The Alarm - Blaze Of Glory
11:36am Sugar - If I Can't Change Your Mind
11:33am R.E.M. - Pop Song 89
11:29am Pop Will Eat Itself - Def Con One

If you have listened to WLIR anytime in the past 25 years, you will really appreciate the site and sounds.

And don't forget, if you want to listen to the best new music hosted by some of the most knowledgable hosts there are, check out www.woxy.com.

WOXY.com vintage is one of the best kept secrets on the internet. I truly enjoy both WOXY streams. The regular stream is truly alternative. It features new music from both the independent music labels and the big ones. Mixed with them are the best of the 00's, 90's and 80's.

The vintage channel features mostly alternative music from the 80's mixed with the 90's and every now and then they sneak in a current song. Both channels are recommended. I started listening to WLIR when they were making the change from what they were doing in the 70's to what they became. I stayed with them until I moved out of state at the end of 1990. Try WOXY if you liked WLIR after 1980. You won't be sorry.
