First Broadcasting Capital Partners has LMA'd the Max-FM combo and everyone is gone. Is a format flip coming to the 'burbs?
Right now at 9:21 PM dead air is a pretty safe bet...microbob said:I know it won't. What format would work given it is a rim shot signal?

It won't happen, but WAOL should go back to Classic Country. It's perfect for the area.stereolane said:microbob said:I know it won't. What format would work given it is a rim shot signal?
At this point, none whatsoever. They killed off the only true legacy that the frequency had, with 97X.
I have no idea what could be done with WAOL, other than small market radio. The tower site is actually in Kentucky, a good distance from the river.

I heard this station maybe 12 years ago...the 'announcer' was every bit as bad as what you describe while reporting a news story that a 'man was found dead face down in Seamen'. Seamen is a town in Ohio but still...the guy could have chosen better wording than he did. That said, the worst live local announcer still beats a satellite dish IMHO....radiojunkieengineer said:{which is the most awful Country Station you have every heard, their DJ's sound like hill jacks that can't read or speak}

I don't really know whether 97.7 is turning a profit, but they are carrying a pretty nice spotload, mostly with local businesses (I'm not hearing too many agency spots). Ratings are holding similar to those of TSJ's other LMAed station, WVKO in Columbus, so given the niche nature of their format they must be at least satisfactory.microbob said:Is the spanish format making any money for 97.7?
They actually have apparent live and local jocks in almost every daytime daypart, though I'm not sure if any of them are paid other than AM and PM drive talent. (I don't know for sure if they're using on-air volunteers, but I get the idea they may be for some shifts.)gabigley1 said:They appear to have a local and live morning show in Spanish on 97.7 with a female announcer. Spanish programming on 97.7 has not been affected?
