WOYS/WOCY APALACHICOLA

WOCY-FM 106.5 dropped Oyster Country over the hoildays is now playing thier sister channel Oyster Radio on 100.5 I wonder why they doing that? To get more listrenser on 106.5 b/c WOCY is a 100,000 watts station while WOYS is 11,500 watts station.

What's 104.5 doing? Maybe 100.5 will be gone?

BTW I gotta go back there to DX some time....I wonder if Rancho Inn in Apalachicola still has that neat-o outdoor antenna....

cd

I knew they sold a while back, but who owns them, etc. (I guess I could look all that up). Listened to them a bit last spring and found them interesting and a bit refreshing, but for the life of me, the area has so few businesses that it's gotta be a tough, tough way to make a living.
Have they saved on payroll, etc?

WOYY-FM 104.5 is now Faith Radio WFRF-FM 105.7/WFRF-AM 1070 from Tallahassee Faith Radio buy WOYY-FM. Faith Radio can be hread on 105.7FM/AM-1070-Tallahassee also in Qunicy area on 90.1 and now in Eastpoint and Franklin County Florida Faith Radio is on 104.5fm.

The new owner of Oyster Radio is now Michael Allen and Colonel Billy D and Bonnie Gomes.

Then there will be some musical chairs up there....I'd figure maybe WOCY to take 100.5, whichever has the few listeners will have the smaller signal.

Hey, question for you guys - when does EST start? I know APALACHICOLA is the border town but are you guys EST or CST?

I heard those stations from time to time. Oyster Country but forgot where on the dial.

Could someone be planning a move or downgrade for one of the (former?) Oyster stations to make room for an upgrade to a Tallahassee station? That 100kw 106.5 isn't really needed in Apalachicola but it's probably stuck there due to adjacents to the north, east, and west. I guess they still have the option to move as far south as they want. :D With the economy and decline in radio relevance, would it be worth the cost to try and jumble market #162?

there has been a recent change in ownership and I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the buyers were a religious group....that may be what is going on.....just a guess

Aren't all 4 of the Apalachicola stations part of the same cluster? If a religious group just bought up all the radio stations in town... man that sucks.

Why can't the Christians be satisfied with the non-commercial band? The Baptist almost own the whole dang non-com band over here in Mobile/Pensacola... there's no room for a college, student, or community radio station... no room for eclectic, variety, free-form, new music, or uncensored music after midnight... just religion and a little NPR.

Yes, I believe Scott Beagle of Faith radio did acquire WOYY a few months ago, adding the 104.5 signal to the existing Faith Radio 90.1, 105.7 and 1070 Tallahassee coverage. How is the 104.5 signal in Talley?

104.5 does not come in at all at least on the east side of TLH. Also, there is also a 104.5 translator in TLH for 91.1 WUJC

I actually can't get anything on 104.5. I'm outside of the Tallahassee city limits on the east side.

I don't believe Scott intended for 104.5 to be used for Tallahassee. I think he was trying to extend
the coverage of 1070 down to the coast.

That said, I'm not familiar with the party that bought the other Oyster stations.

cd,

Yes, 1070 is a daytimer, but Faith Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day on the FMs and via their stream.

What about WFCT 105.5 The Coast easylisting station from Apalachicola they used to have a very good singal but 105.7 around Tallahassee keep messing up utill u move ur antenna in the right postion to get
WFCT-FM. I remeber they were 50,000 watts station now it down to 46,000 watts and what happen to thier website?
