WPBP 104.5 Pearl format

They are now playing what sounds like mainly CHR. Calling themselves "Power 104.5" the Pirate. (not a bad slogan for a 20 watt blowtorch) but the format is all over the place. You might hear a dance record followed by an alternative rock song, sanwiched between a contemporary Christian song followed by Niki Minaj with some Boston or Motley Crue thrown in. I've heard Adele, Boston, Motley Crue, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Maroon Five Bruno Mars, some old 80's songs and everything in between. The only breaks I've heard is one for the Red Cross, the City of Pearl with Walt Grayson, and the Mississipi Braves. They may have just loaded some new songs into the computer and not taken out the christian songs. But hearing Niki Minaj with the censored F word in it right after a christian song is rather odd.

It's definitely Pearl. It only has a coverage of a few miles. Barely makes it out of the city limits. Heard Ozzy Osbourne, Cutting Crew (I Just died in your arms tonight) Train-Hey soul Sister, Pink-Get the Party Started, Niki Minaj-Starships, Bruno Mars, and a mish mash of other stuff.

I just listened to it today. It's pretty good. Now I have a new option to listen to while in the car. I work in Ridgeland and the signal is pretty good in the car.

I listened to the station more over the weekend and I'm rather impressed. They have a good mix of music (I describe it as a quasi-hot AC) and for a low-power, some pretty good audio processing.

I'm surprised it would reach into Ridgeland. I haven't tried it in that direction. I usually lose the signal in Brandon or in Whitfield around the Mental Hospital. It is nearly gone by the time I pass the Prison. I could have sworn I heard the "F" word on a Green Day song, but I may be mistaken.

You heard it right. Whenever they play "Holiday", they don't edit the F-word that's used to describe gays ("Kill all the f--- who don't agree").

It doesn't have a great signal in Ridgeland. I was at a local park there over the weekend and the signal was battling with Rock 104 from Hattiesburg and K-Hits from Vicksburg.

So it's P-1 listeners are in that prime Prison/Mental Hospital demo?
