Hudson Valley WPDH 50 Years Of Rock

On June 1, 1976, WPDH changed formats from Country to Album Rock. At first, the only jock was morning man Peter Macy. The rest of the day was automated until 12:30 AM sign-off. Ron Nenni joined for afternoons in the Fall of 76, and other personalities were added through 1977. Roy Rutanen was the program director and, I believe, the voice on most of the locally-produced spots early on.

Today is WPDH's 50th Anniversary. Congratulations to all who have been involved in the station's success.

I recorded an aircheck of the early rock format on October 16th of 1976. It's been making the rounds of the internet in various forms for the last 15 years or so. Here's an unscoped version of the 80 minute aircheck (2 sides of a reel-to-reel recording). Enjoy.
