Have you ever listened to wpel.. 5 pm yesterday ..labor day 15 min news cast with at least 6 acualities. Real weather..and sports from that day. Best radio news hands down. They do it till 9 pm I think.
If more people new they would listen just for the information.

I have sampled that station while surfing the FM dial and I do like their commitment to news. But I am not a regular listener, as I can't stand most religious programming. Although I rarely miss the Sunday service at my local church, I really don't want to hear that stuff on the radio. I do admire WPEL for its service to the community, despite my general distaste for their format.
WPEL-FM does have a killer signal on 96.5 in NEPA. As a grandfathered superpower Class B station that signed on in 1953, long before the current FCC rules took effect, WPEL-FM runs 57 kW ERP. Normal Class B power is 50 kW ERP maximum.
