WPEN airs NFL Monday Night football

Tonight WPEN 950 AM aired the first game of the Monday Night Doubleheader. It was between the Vikings and Redskins in MD. WIP 610 AM is airing the second game as of this posting between the Chargers and Oakland. Vikings won the game 19-16. I have heard a spot Sunday on WPEN saying that 950 AM is the new home of Monday Night Football and the NFL playoffs. Is this news true or not that WPEN is the new home of NFL on Monday Nights? I haven't seen any info about this anywhere.

Julius: For once, you bring up a decent topic, IMO.

I find it odd for WPEN to air the first game...then the competing station air the second game. Both games are distributed by Westwood One. As far as I know, WIP has always been the Westwood One affiliate for the Philadelphia market.

Yeah, I heard they were the new NFL station. They are running promos saying "the NFL made the switch, shouldn't you?"

Great coup for WPEN getting the NFL.

WBCB 1490 out of Levittown is doing doubleheads on Sunday's and SUnday football and some of the Monday night games it looks like when the Philles don't play on Monday night. They don't say on there web site but on Saturday they had the Norte Dame feed of the Note Dame and Penn state game so they might be doing some of Norte Dame games to on wbcb 1490.

WBCB must be a "secondary" Westwood One affiliate perhaps? Just a guess. Notre Dame football play-by-play is distrubuted by Westwood One as well...along with the Sunday Night and Monday Night NFL games.

Does anyone know if Westwood One still have 1pm and 4pm games on Sunday afternoons? It would be interesting if WPEN picked them up, although there probably be little sponsor interest in this market if the Eagles have a Sunday day game.

WBCB have some 4:15 games when the eagles are not play at 4:00. It says on the web site that they get the games from the Sports USA Raido network and CBS Westwood one. I know Westwood one does the Sunday night and Monday Night games. So I am thinking that the Sports USA Raido network might be doing the Sunday Afternoon games.

I just check the Sports USA Raido network web site. They are the ones that are doing the Doublehead on Sunday's afternoons
