WPEN-FM Signal

Anyone else in and around Center City/South Philly having problems with 97.5 the past few days? I think it's worse now than it was when the format flip happened. I was having trouble locking it in on the same radios that had no problem getting it last week.

WALK is walking all over 97.5 in central NJ. Really frustrating trying to hear the Phillies game last night on several weak signals.

Yeah. The weather is affecting signals all over the place. It's cool if you wanna DX, but sux when you're listening to Something interesting.

Yesterday here in Central Connecticut I was listening to La Fiesta 98.5 out of Long Island and then it switched to Sports Radio 98.5 The Hub out of Boston for a couple minutes then it switched back. Of course it couldn't happen when La Fiesta was in a commercial break. No, it had to happen when I was listening to a song I like.

And last week also in Central Connecticut 107.5 FM kept switching back and forth between WFCC from Cape Cod and FRANK-FM from Maine. Most of the time during DXing I get WFCC on 107.5. (It's a rarity that I get WBLS NYC).

How "central" in central Jersey? Your options were:
97.5, 950, 1040, 1050 and 1210. None of them came in?

All of them came in. But there's noise on AM stations when I'm driving. 1040, 1050 had interference, 950 was weak, I'm in the zone of 1210 where the groundwave and skywave interfere at night so it's clear one minute and noisy the next. 97.5 was mostly WALK. Ironically, the clearest station was 97.3 despite being the furthest away.

WRTI's 91.3 signal from Atlantic City was coming in as well as their main 90.1 signal last night in Lansdale. A lot of other regionals were also hot here: 97.1 in NYC, 95.1 in Danbury was wiping out Allentown (which is only 25 miles away), and 103.1 in LI was heard mixed with WMGK's IBOC hash.

I drive the NJ Turnpike Exit 9 to 5 for work every day. I find that WMVP 1000-AM in Chicago has one of the best ESPN Radio signals at night.

Very true...much to my chagrin. The IBOC hash on 990 at night from WMVP often kills WNTP within my "interference free" contour. Thanks FCC and Ibiquity....for nothing.

Here a buzz, there a buzz, everywhere a buzz, buzz, .............

This is why terrestrial radio does not make sense entering the second decade of the 21st century. Yes, it will still take time and more advanced technology to be able to listen to digital broadcasts everywhere. But come on, transmitters and towers in the digital age?
