WPEN reported ready to apply for program-test authority

Adjustment of the new night array at the WWDB site reported complete. Proof of performance measurements also completed. Expect to see an application for License to Cover in the FCC actions any day now. I doubt the license to cover will be granted before Labor Day, but if what I've been told is correct, the station could be on with its new night facilities any day.

The work was completed really fast--suggesting that no major problems were encountered.

I hear that 'PEN has landed the Sixers for the coming season. Since most professional basketball games take place at night, the Sixers should be on a signal that is about as good as the one they used to be on (WIP).

Wrong. WIP re-signed the 76ers...

Hold That Dribble!

Don't think that the Sixers are goin' there. From today's (7/27/2005) allaccess.com:

"Contrary to reports issued elsewhere, the PHILADELPHIA 76ERS have inked a long-term deal to remain with radio flagship WIP-A/PHILADELPHIA. TOM MCGINNIS remains behind the mic for the INFINITY Sports station, home for many years to both the SIXERS and hockey's FLYERS; the SIXERS were said by some sources to have agreed to move to crosstown GREATER MEDIA Oldies WPEN-A, but that proved not to be the case."

PEN will continue to air "Bowel-Cleanse" infomercials, sans b-ball.
