WPFB-AM off air...AGAIN.

Was listening Monday morning while on mid day break at work and noticed it off the air....again.
Then on Tuesday morning I heard Radio Disney on AM 910 but the signal wasn't as strong (a distant station???) Has been off the air since Wednesday.

What's going on here NKU???
I hope you are aware that you have to file an STA first before doing this...unless you have XMTR troubles.

They only need an STA if they anticipate being off the air longer than 30 days. If they anticipate being off the air between 10 and 30 days, just an informal notification is needed.

WFDF Detroit. 50KW @ 910, Radio Disney.

NKU likely doesn't care... haven't they been trying to sell it but no one wants to buy it?

Now if the WBAA 920 IBOC from West Lafayette,IN would go away, I could actually hear something else on 910 beside hiss at 100 air miles.

Price is too high.. Move the La Mega format to 910 so that Mojo could return to 97.7.

Yeah. If I heard right, no one will buy an AM like 'PFB for a million dollars.

I heard that 1 mil number too.

It's sad what they are doing to station. Total neglect.

Does anyone know who has the listing?
I wonder if they have bitten off more than they can chew. I wouldn't be surprised to see them put 104.1 up for sale at some point, but they would probably want way more than that signal is worth too. The audio on 105.9 still sounds like crap. It's been months after they took over and it still sounds like a low quality internet stream.

I assumed the last time the AM was off air it was for tower work for them to put up the 97.7 antenna. Unless they have more tower work going on, this time I would attribute it to pure neglect.

Would you believe it's been almost 2 years?

Still a lot of money for a AM Station that doesn't cover the market. As stated previously, 910 whould have to remain in Middeltown Ohio and cannot be moved to Cincinnati.

Who says it can't be moved? More importantly, would it be worth it?

I think Jry looked at it and discovered it wasn't worth it to move.

Also, if the AM was moved and city of license changed, then the FM becomes Middletown's only "local service," and any prospects of moving the FM are limited to keeping it close enough to put 70 dBu over Middletown.

OK, but if I buy the AM I don't care what the FM does. JRY I would be interested in what you may have learned about moving it. As I understand it, they're on a folded unipole on the FM tower running under 1kw day and under 100w night. NKU is also running it as if they don't care. If it was worth it, I would think any new owner who cared could come up with something better. Even if it had to stay in Middletown. Just for the sake of fun, what about changing COL to Forest Park or Springdale. Diplex on the WCNW or WDJO site?

Maybe not. 97.7 is now on the Middletown tower. Flip 105.9 and 97.7 COLs. Could a Mason COL 105.9 downgrade to B1 and move as close in as Star Tower?

Lamont that's an interesting chess move. It's your homework assignment to see who 105.9 might interfere with if it moved southwest.

I never did homework. ;)

No problem. I got nothing else to do. Looks like there are 105.9s southwest of Lexington and south of Louisville. 105.7 northeast of Louisville and 106.3 in Lexington. The new 106.3 here is a translator and doesn't get consideration, does it? Nothing in Indiana to cause a problem. There might be a 105.5 in KY I missed.
