WPFB off the air.

Last time they were off a week and didn't know it until someone from NKU was notified by a poster on this board. Has WOXY started broadcasting from the WPFB tower yet? Maybe that's why they are off the air.

I'm surprised anyone even listens to 105.9 anymore. Maybe their dial-up internet connection crashed? ;D

WPFB receives their Audio via a satellite feed.

Then why does it sound so awful? I'd listen to 105.9 more if the audio quality (or lack thereof) didn't hurt my ears.

Wish I owned 910 and 105.9. NKU doesn't care, and it shows. Back when Paul was alive people cared. It was a fun place to work. Of course things were different.

I know, I was just joking b/c of their horrid audio quality. I've heard transistor radios from the 70s that sounded better than NKU. ;D

They did use a dial phone with patch cords to connect their programming to the studios at one time. Maybe still using the same old patch cords. LOL

We've had a failure or two with the dedicated telco lines. When a "Comrex Hotline" won't work, an I phone does. Great audio as well.

...an I Phone??? 'ya gotta be joking!

...How about using a Tieline Commander and a Road Runner internet connection instead?

910 is for sale. If you're serious about wishing you owned it...there ya go.

Everytime I turn on NKU, I get a banjo or a mandolin. I like the idea of the station but can never listen for more than ten minutes before they get all twangy on me.

I had my guys at Munn Reese look at 910 from a different tower site (meaning one of the ones i am currently using). It doesn't work, spacing is pretty tight.

I listen to WNKU a lot; I especially love Saturdays, but I agree with you about how they have slid back into a folky sound. When Craig Kopp was PD, I was really enjoying what sounded to me like true Adult Alternative; how cool to hear Roxy Music dropped into the middle of morning drive... Grayson seems to favor the accoustic stuff with the folk sound. I don't mind some of that but IMO, it dominates his programming to a fault. My guess is it's because they are going for that E. Ohio/Kentucky audience.

If he happens to read this... Hey Michael--I'm tuning away more these days here in good old Cincinnati, and I'm a donor. Also-- LET MARY PEALE PROGRAM HER OWN SHOW! I don't want to hear new music; let Mary be Mary!!

Twangy is good but Joe Mullins does it better.

That's a shame..Could any other site be used? If CC wasn't over their limit in the market, I bet they could diplex it on one of its AM towers.

The playlist is very inconsistent. It is very rare for me to listen to more than one song in a row, I check in now and then and like what I hear then the next song starts and I am like yuck. A part of me likes the eclectic nature but to keep me they are going to have to do a better job. It is a hard balance though so hats off to them for trying something different.

The audio is terrible on 105.9 and is just as bad on 104.1 in Portsmouth. Whatever sat system they are using needs either a higher bit rate or a better codec, or both. It sounds like a low bit rate mp3. Horrible quality. I'm not sure how the music geeks or whatever type of listener they can attract with that programming can stand it.

A sat feed doesn't sound like a low quality auidiostream...was listening to 105.9 FM. yesterday but 910 AM is STILL off.
