WPFM

The tropo shifted today in Pensacola and WPFM was coming in over the Kicker, WZKX. I listened just long enough to hear the top of the hour ID and they said something along the lines of "WPFM, Panama City - Tallahassee". What's up with that? I know The Great 108 covered Tallahassee in the 80's but now Tallahassee has an LPFM on 107.9. Why would WPFM bother listing a second city in their station ID?

It's called "daydreaming." PFM does put a half-assed signal into Dothan and usually shows up in the ratings with about a half-share. They could toss Marianna into a legitimate dual ID, but who cares...

Hell Rob, now a friggin' 100,000 watt Panama City station is a crappy signal??? I only thought all those 100k-watters in
Pensacola were crappy because no one can pick their signals up in Panama City!!! What gives??? You think it's some
aluminum or metal in the (beach) sand from the hurricanes (that also ruined the tourism) destroying the buildings?
FTLOG, will the 'signal' ever get through? What freakuency are you on rob???

Sorry to double up there FrankB....

its fine--i was wrong anyway...its only 98,500 watts! wow! that is a small signal! it only covers half of the friggin panhandle!

Oh, and rob....

what is oakloassia ??? A new strip club? I can't wait to see their 'studios.' where? what's their frequency?

Hey Frank????

What would you call B's signal compared to PFM? Maybe they should combine frequencies so it reaches
the 100,000 watt minimum. I heard WAAZ is probably applying for a 400,000 watt signal from Crestview and
Jimmy Whitaker is finally upgrading and is going to build a 65,000 foot tower and face it toward the
navarre - oakloassia SRC border and maybe even Cuba so they can hear American Braves games.

Whatever the name of this county is. Firefox doesn't have the correct spelling for it.
I don't care for it here (as you can tell) but try to make the best out of it. Dxing sucks especially on am and I feel homesick without hearing the French stations on am and FM from Ontario.
even though my French is rather limited to a few words Spanish rules the board here and it gets old trying to hear WSM when I hear "Radio Mega" or whatever is on 650.

Sorry but I'm not all for the "hip" (rap) format why I called it a crappy format. I tend to listen to 95.1 when/if it does come here as well as other various stations.

Well now, rob, I just thought you meant the signal was crappy (as in not very much power, small, weak.)
I can't disagree with you on the format!!! :p You're on the money, afterall.

Sorry, WSM doesn't come in. I know it's Classic (Real) Country, and I have to admit I am surprised you'd
even consider listening to it.

Can't you find any stations from Ontario streaming online? Let us know which stations you like.

Not the same though and with the nonsense about com' radio on the web, it's BS.
Nothing like catching tropo (or even e*skip)

-Rob

If you want to hear something in French, try tuning your radio to KLEB 1600 during the day. Those crazy Cajun's forget they're in America and start rambling on in French all the time. I wish I knew what they were saying. When they're not talking, they play great Cajun music... and some of that is in French also.

that comes in amazing well down here.
(daytime)

it's only a 1000 watt signal but i wonder if their transmitter is near the gulf?

finally some nice days down here so no more static on the am band (for a while)
even though we need the rain.
