The ongoing soap opera at WPFW has taken a new twist: General manager John Hughes has been suspended, or as the station puts it, "placed on paid administrative leave".
But a story on Current.org (http://www.current.org/2013/09/pacifica-relieves-wpfw-manager-of-duties-urges-staff-to-keep-quiet/), Pacifica interim executive director Summer Reese has ordered employees not to talk about it.
As you probably know, WPFW is one of several Pacifica stations that have had severe financial problems of late, and like WBAI in New York, WPFW has been forced to drastically increase the length and frequency of on-air pledge drives.
BTW, Michele Price is the "interim" general manager, and to say the least (based on all the reports out there), she's got her work cut out for her.
