They are not changing this stations format the 2010 Billing numbers for D.C. are on DCRTV.COM and WPGC is the number two biller in the D.C. market. To me this was/is a very creative stunt by Jason Kidd and crew he is going for that PD spot.radioville said:Are you guys listening today? Could this be the time they change up the format?
This was a clearly a stunt because I'm friends with someone that works for CBS Radio and they were even saying it was an attention grabbing stunt.
It's interesting to see an "urban" like WPGC bill a third higher than a CHR/Top 40 like WIHT although the latter has higher ratings than the former. Hell, WPGC is the highest bill of the urban format altogether in the DC market, and that's very unusual compared to other markets where the UACs usually bills higher.
I'm don't know about the PD position, but the changes Kidd has made in the past 2 months has been for the better especially with the late nights and weekends song rotation.

They were. All of those songs were added about 3 weeks ago.
Interestingly enough, it looks like Lil Mo has departed the station. Her bio and mentions are gone fromthe site. Although musically they have improved and still has the fourth highest cume (889,000), but their overall 6+ numbers has gone down compared to WKYS and they are ranked #12 in the market overall. It's strange to see how this station waivers in ranking month to month...
Lil`mo appears to be gone but she has a new album coming out later this year and she is working on that. She was under a one year contract that now is apparently over (a Micheal Saunders hire) she is a singer not a radio personality so this is no surprise news. I like to throw names out there so if they hire this guy as rumor has it(Tom Calococci) as the next OM/PD it would be no surprise to me but who ever the next PD is they now have a morning drive co-host and afternoon drive slot to fill(move Herkules to this slot in my opinion). As far as the ratings go its the world of the PPM so it is what it is this has been talked about on the DCRTV boards in D.C. its now more about the year end Ad rev numbers than it is about these monthly PPM numbers. If you are the 12 rated station 6+ but at the end of the year you are the number two billing station as has been the case with WPGC since the PPM started in 2008 they will survive as a station and be just fine.
That is true, #2 in billing is impressive for a station like WPGC. However, it would make sense to move Herkules up to afternoons considering he was the afternoon drive host in the Hampton Roads for a number of years. This would let Todd B go back to being the full-time host of "The Coolout", which I prefer anyways because usually the music selection is much better with actual slow jams and R&B classics with him there.
On Tom Calococci, that might be the 2nd best choice next to Jason Kidd being promoted to OM/PD. The only thing is it sucks that a local is being passed over for an industry name in the urban/rhythmic format arena. I just hope in the long term that their ratings and musical selection can match their billing ranking so that the station won't continue seeing so many changes.

I agree 100% with everything that you said Jason Kidd should have been named the OM/PD when Saunders left for Orlando back in early March but when they opened the job up to a search you already knew that this could happen Kidd still could get the job i have my doubts however. Calococci is a good PD but a carpetbagger always looking for the next best job so he will be gone after a period of time. Any fix that leaves Tigger in mornings is not a fix at all. Tigger is still valuable to the station so put him back in afternoon drive and bring in a winner for mornings. There are some heavy hitters on the beach out there. Who ever the new OM/PD is, he or she should go shopping.
Who are these winners that are out there who would do better with a LOCAL morning show? Tigger is a winner with the 18-34 and 18-49 crowds we do not see those numbers however. I have a question, why WPGC hasn't added Laiya St. Clair as a full-timer?
Hell, she was better suited for being a full-timer than Anji Corley was during the America's Next Top Jock contest. IMHO, Laiya should be placed as the co-host of the morning show considering she is a DC native, has major market experience, and captivating on-air presence. Her being on their full time roster would help solidify their female demographic base in the mornings, where Tigger is seriously lacking against practically all 4 other stations WPGC is competing against.

WPGC unlike WKYS is a stand alone station so it could shift its format either way or ride the fence (daypart itself) without worrying about cannibalization of its sister stations. It makes a much more interesting situation for its programming.
On Osei, I doubt he would come back to DC either. I'm thinking Reggie Rouse, the CBS Radio VP for Urban and Rhythmic formats and WVEE OM/PD, might just place Osei back in the late night slow jams show on WVEE in the long run. He's in Atlanta to stay...
