WPHL channel 17 off direct TV

And when the six people who actually watch MyNetworkTV call and complain, what happens?

WPHL's programming is not something that is going to get you leverage in a retrans fight.

While what you say is true, there's also the Phillies games, as mentioned before. Plus most of Tribune's stations are with the CW, which does attract the age demographic the advertisers are after. Just the CW affiliates alone could gain leverage in such a conflict.

All the kids watching Family Guy, the young adults watching Two and a Half Men and the millions of people watching the Phillies will be mad.

But, what's the reason for this? Seems kinda unprovoked.

Edit
This is off their site -

PHL 17 is off the air for DirecTV subscribers. DirecTV stopped airing PHL 17 at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, March 31, having failed to offer fair compensation for our programming. Call 855-533-7973 toll free and tell DirecTV you want the Phillies, Big Bang Theory, and all your favorite PHL 17 shows back. Click here for updates and other ways to get PHL 17.

Tribune's site on the issue.

The true Phillies fan would have cable or Fios, since CSN/TCN aren't on DirecTV. As for the news at 10, it's more of a loss to WCAU I'd think, but WPHL is still on cable/Fios, OTA and Dish so that DirecTV loss shouldn't be major.

FiOS isn't the only Fiberoptic - Xfinity and Prism are fiberoptic.
