WPHY 920 to flip... away with sports talk

WCHR - 1040, Flemington, NJ, this week. It'll change to WNJE next week when it starts its 24/7 LMA with WEPN - 1050.

WNJE - how original. What are the calls for 107.1 FM on Long Island going to switch to - WLIE?

appearently the person doing the station ids doesn't even know which call letters are which! he's saying WCHR Flemming WNJE Trenton oh brother!

You would think with both 1040 AM and 107.1 FM (Long Island) basically relaying the same exact programming as 1050 AM, 1050 would run a legal ID dropping all three stations' call letters - kinda like what the old WDRE/Long Island did back in the day re: WIBF...

They probably will do that, but those can sound like a huge mess if not done right. The old WTOP in Washington:
This is WTOP Washington, WTOP-FM Warrenton, WXTR Frederick, and online at wtopnews.com.

Not bad. But it got really bad when they also had the station on an FM translator with those odd translator call letters.

WJFK in DC tried to fudge it, cramming in an FM and AM pseudo-simulcast and a market name different from the city of license:
WJFK FM and AM Manassas Washington Baltimore.

well it can't be wlie wince that's regestered to a station at 540 a.m. in Islip New York use to be business talk now it's spanish something or other!

Just checked the FCC database, and Nassau did indeed change the call letters of WPHY 920 to WNJE, on Wednesday 1/23. This looks like a placeholder until 920 AM gets the WCHR call letters back and the WNJE calls can be moved over to 1040, to go with their new sports format.

The 107.1couldapply to changwe the calls to WLIE-FM, as call signs can now be done this way.

I think you need permission from the current user of a set of calls if you want to use those same calls in a different band.

Clear Channel couldn't just put a station on the AM dial (not just in New York, but anywhere) and call it WNBC. They'd need permission from NBC, who owns WNBC-TV.

107.1 WLIR started simulcasting 1050 WEPN this past Monday.....Now right before the top of the hour Sportscenter there is a quick "WEPN New York, WLIR Hampton Bays".......That is currently the only mention of 107.1 on 1050......I guess this Monday they will add 1040 to the ID and start to promote the 1040 & 107.1 signals........It would be stupid to put these stations on and only mention them @ the ID.

ok guys 1040 played music til 11:56 p.m. then silence 5 minutes then at 12:01 a.m. they just put on ESPN Radio 1050 no ids no announcements or anything!
