WPIX-11 Hit With Age Discrimination Lawsuit

Jim Watkins anchored both newscasts solo tonight. Coincidence?

Personally, I think the ex-ND hung both Kaity Tong and Marvin Scott (who worked tonight) out to dry. At the same time, I see where she's coming from, at least partially. If WPIX wanted all their older (and usually higher-priced) talent out -- including Mr. G, who's gotta be somewhere between 65 and 70 himself -- they would have done it already, or at least phased them out slowly. Just like it would be a mistake to let Watkins go, the same goes for both Tong and Scott. He's been there for 30 years, and she has to be WPIX's longest-serving news anchor.

Kaity's also been allowed to age gracefully while holding a prominent on-air role. Not a lot of women anywhere can say that (Michele Marsh, Carol Martin and Roz Abrams, anyone?). Kaity, Sue Simmons, Dana Tyler, Diana Williams, Rosanna Scotto and Brenda Blackmon are the exceptions.

Getting slapped with a lawsuit: a new way to say "Happy Birthday." ;D

Not surprised here.
