WPIX and INN

Looking at the News Music Search Archive (Southern Media), I notice there is a gap from 1985-1987 where only the INN music was used. Did WPIX use the INN music for local news at that time, or at that time did they produce no local news and focus all their news resources on INN?

If memory serves, they branded the local news INN too and it was a seperate broadcast.<P ID="signature">______________

Correct. For a few years the local 10pm news was "INN: The Independent News", seperate from the 'national' broadcast. Later it was rebranded "USA Tonight"/"New York Tonight", before the national feed was discontinued.

INN is NOT to be confused with the current "INN", which airs mostly on LPTV stations.

Maybe I'm thinking Run-DMC here, but wasn't this on Channel 9 as well?

Maybe in Chicago, on WGN-TV, but that was probably it.

Hey you, over there, I know about your kind
you're like the Independent Network News on channel nine...

WGN carried "INN" at 9:30pm for quite a few years (as they're WPIX's sister-station). Not sure at what point WGN's 9pm news expanded to an hour.
