WPIX and sister stations to possibly be sold

WPIX, KTLA, and WGN may be getting sold by Tribune, according to Saturday's New York Newsday. This could be CBS's chance to gain O&O stations for the CW in these markets.

I hope CBS doesn't get it, since they don't need another newsroom to throw in the toilet. Just look at the mess that is WCBS.

I still can't believe that Roz and Mary were replaced with Wragge and Johnson.

I used to watch the news at five on channel 2, but not anymore. I do like Jim and Dana though.

And hasn't there been a shuffle of morning traffic reporters? Liz Burke was on in the beginning when the morning news was revamped, but I haven't seen her in a while.

I think that station is lacking continuity. Yes the ratings are important, but a quick fix isn't going to solve things in the long run. Maybe they'd actually be able to grow their viewership in the long run if they try to let things work. But overthrowing the anchor teams every 6 months is not going to be the magic solution.

I agree CBS wouldn't be a good owner. As for The CW, maybe the new owner of (WPIX, WGN, KTLA - if they stay intact as sister stations), maybe Gannett, could buy out CBS's 50% share of The CW as well. Though to my understanding, most interested companies, like Gannett, are interested in the newspapers, and not really the TV stations, and probably even less so interested in The CW affiliations/network.

Hold everything--Gannett once owned WLVI 56, a tribune-owned CW station. There have been rumors that Sunbeam TV, owners of WHDH-TV, may (if they already haven't done so already) buy WLVI. How would the reaction be at 75 Morrissey to going back to the company that revamped the 10PM news in Boston?

Never mind about CBS for the news, look at the programming--the synergy within the CW stations. Programming under CBS would be AWFUL--worse than all the trash WPIX airs today!
