WPIX brings back the circle 11

Just to let you know that on Saturday October 25, during its CHILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL-ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Theatre with Zacerley special ..WPIX showed off its new look

Gone is the CW11..get ready for The return of the famed Circle 11 (updated of course)

I'm surprised this wasn't posted sooner. I remember the circle 11 logo, back in the days before WPIX was mercilessly yanked off the cable lineups upstate. (And by upstate, I don't mean Poughkeepsie, I mean really upstate.)

So is this just a logo change, or are they dumping the CW network too? I don't think I've ever seen a CW affiliate that doesn't use the CW logo in its name. On the other hand, it would be extremely rare for a station to drop network affiliation in the midst of a season, and being it's the #1 market, we probably would have heard about that already. So I guess I answered my own question, but ya never know, with the way things are going in the TV biz these days.

WPIX's owner has already ditched CW branding from all the CW affiliates they owned. WPIX is the last Tribune owned CW outlet to rebrand away from the CW. Only one Tribune CW station has actually ditched the network so far and the was in San Diego (who switched to Fox).

When I saw it right now, it still uses the CW11 logo.

They are phasing in the change on air. If you watch the promos you'll see CW11, then they "whisper" WPIX right after it. From what I've read the full change will take place next month. For now, the website has been updated: http://www.wpix.com/
