WPKT Meriden now in HD Radio©

Over the last couple of days I noticed the typical digital sideband noise around 90.3 & 90.7 in my car (which doesn't make me too happy as I listen to WAMC & WTCC at times, now I can only do that at home!) WPKT-HD1 is up and running, no sub-channels yet.

Something else I notice, WMRQ has an RDS that shows up as KEGN. No HD at WMRQ and none now at all on WCCC.

It was mentioned in another thread somewhere that WCCC killed HD due to budgetory reasons. I also assumed WMRQ dropped it because they stopped mentioning HD Digital in the top of the hour ID.

And Clear Channel hasn't bothered to fix the HD-2 on WWYZ, which has been MIA for about a month.

And good riddance. One less station I have to keep hitting [MODE] [4] - [4] on my JVC HRD-1's to keep it from constantly popping in and out of HD.

at this point for my beneficiary the New Hd Walkman's Kick serious butt... now if everyone just turns off IBOC I can't imagine the the selectivity on those radios. more CCC in greenwich :)

I think it was mentioned that they killed the HD-2, as I remember the main HD-1 was still up at the time.

No sign of HD at 90.5 today. Also, Clear Channel seems to have shut down KC101's HD, both streams. This leaves only WKSS and WHCN in Clear Channel's Hartford-New Haven cluster still running HD-2, as WWYZ's classic country stream remains down.

In other news of apparent HD neglect, WDRC-FM's HD-1 stream no longer gives artists and titles, DJ names, request line numbers or any other info, just "DRC FM 102.9 / The Big D." The HD-2 stream, of course, continues dataless, but I believe Tom Ray explained here earlier that it couldn't be upgraded due to the limitations of the software Buckley purchased when it launched the HD-2 back in 2006.

Might be time for another HD/RDS bandscan: (from my location next to the bridge in middletown)
88.5 WFCR HD-1/2
88.9 WJMJ RDS
91.3 WWUH RDS
92.5 WWYZ HD-1
93.7 WZMX HD-1/2
95.7 WKSS HD-1/2
96.5 WTIC-FM HD-1/2/3
99.1 WPLR HD-1
100.5 WRCH HD-1/2
101.3 WKCI RDS (as KFUQ?)
102.1 WAQY RDS
102.9 WDRC-FM HD-1/2
104.1 WMRQ RDS (as KEGN?)
105.9 WHCN HD-1/2
106.9 WCCC-FM RDS

again, nothing strong enough on AM to get HD.

Any idea what WTIC plans to do with that HD-3 stream? When I tuned in earlier today, it was simulcasting 1080 (Limbaugh), just like the HD-2, but it appeared to be a second or two off.

A lot of CBS stations are throwing the simulcast of the AM on the HD3. (WBZ 98.5 in Boston has WBZ 1030 on HD3, A couple of the New York ones do as well). The HD2 will probably become something else.
