WPLJ HD 2 True OLdies Should have local DJs

Why doesn't WPLJ have local DJs like other True Oldies stations...for example WLS 94.7 FM in Chicago has almost full serice local DJs during the week and on weekends.
It would be great if True Oldies could find a place in NYC on the dial instead of HD 2 where not as many people are listening.

Because there are so few people with HD radios that very few people even know the station exists. It wouldn't be very cost effective to have DJ's.

This is true however it doesn't cost the station much more to be more creative with their format. Even Scott Shannon does a 10 to 3 voice track show on WLS where he gives out the call letters frequently, plus WLS Jingles are used thoughout the day. WPLJ HD 2 hardly ever uses the call letters and does not use Jingles.

The True Oldies feed (hosted by Scott Shannon) is used as an ancillary feed for overnights/other day parts on WLS-FM Chicago. When shows are hosted by jocks other than Scott Shannon (see post above re: voicetracking), WLS-FM is "live & local" & not running the True Oldies feed. It's similar to a sports station that runs a feed of ESPN Radio, Fox Radio or Sporting News Radio when not airing its own programming with its own people.

Generally speaking, an HD2 station won't have it's own hosts & local shows due to the reasons listed above (expense, lowly rated, leading to no/few advertising spots). There are exceptions, such as K-Rock2 (WXRK-HD2 NYC), although its safe to say that the shows are most likely voicetracked; I'd say that makes them "recorded & local".

Local radio can be done on a True Oldies Station HD 2 station...WPDH 101.5 HD 2 Poughkeepsie, New York broadcasts WALL 1340 Live local Oldies show of Mark West heard Mon-Friday 6-10 AM...1340 WALL-1390 WEOK are True Oldies stations in Middeltown-Poughkeepsie, New York.

I've been sampling WOMC-HD2/Detroit (via the online stream, of course) and I will occasionally hear an actual DJ talk up a record during the late morning hours. Doesn't sound canned, either. Possibly a precursor to more talent on at least one HD2 oldies channel?

The sound quality on the HD subchannels is so poor it doesn't make sense to dedicate resources to them. Most of them are in mono although the internet streams are better.

...which should tell you that WPDH-HD2 has DJs only because WALL does. HD2s make no money at all, and no money = nothing with which to pay DJs. They don't work for free, you know.

There's a rarity: using the words "HD" and "quality" in the same sentence.
