Wplj hd 4

Just noticed a new carrier for WPLJ on HD 4...right now there's nothing being broadcast there, I'm wondering if they will bring back all 70s again for their HD 4...WLTW HD 2 is now All 80s...

Any other HD-4 signals in NYC? Pretty rare amongst HD FMs.

Here in Atlanta we only have HD-3 and those are lot bit rate (is that the correct term?). No HD-4's.

I've heard HD4 is best for spoken word formats only. That being said however here in Connecticut we have 2 that are Spanish/Tropical. I don't have an HD Radio so I can't tell you how it sounds.

For some reason Red Wolf Broadcasting is airing "BOMBA" on both WMRQ 104.1 HD2 and HD 4. Then in New London County they're running it on WBMW HD4.

I only know BOMBA is on 104.1 HD2 and HD4 because of the top of the hour legal ID. WMRQ HD2 and HD4 Waterbury.

Then all the translators that run BOMBA. There are 5 of them. WBMW HD4 feeds the 104.5 translator in New London.
Then they announce the frequencies of the translators : 97.1, 98.5, 99.5, and 104.5 FM.

A check of WPLJ this morning indicates that as usual they are running HD2 and HD3, but no 4.

WVIP has adult standards on its HD4. WNSH broadcasts religious programming on its HD4. Oddly, the station has never had an HD2 or HD3. WCBS FM runs the same same sports programming on its HD4 as on its HD3, apparently to make it clear that the former is available for leasing. Sister station WNEW has a Russian broadcaster using its HD4.
Music sounds OK on the HD4's, but is generally in mono.

You want to talk about a wasted HD signal, here in Philly WOGL's HD-4 broadcasts old Phillies games, 24/7/365 and a few in Spanish. Even during blizzards you can tune in and think its summer time. How can HD radio take off with all these wasted formats. Also on WOGL's HD-2, which is all 70's, after 4 songs there are about 4 or 5 annoying Geico commercials non stop, this is every half hour. With all the unused formats, Classic Country, Classic Oldies, Standards, Comedy and 90's, you might think they would take up on one of those. I have to admit we do have a great general oldies station, WMGK HD-2, but many formats are foreign language and just repetitious information.
