WPLJ HD & WPLJ HD 2 ID Question

Why does WPLJ HD 2 include WPLJ in the ID...(Example: WPLJ & WPLJ HD 2 New York...) when giving out their ID on top of the hour on the Oldies Station ?
Was this ID made up before when WPLJ was thinking of having the True Oldies Channel on WPLJ FM ?
 
It's not necessarily wrong, but it's also not needed... The legal ID rules are not very clear cut... ultimately, not a big deal.
