Why would CBS do that? Pay Todd tons of money to be an anchor to the show? Scott kicked his butt in less than a year after being run off. If I were Scott Shannon, I'd walk if they hired Pettengill.
Did you forget to use the [/sarcasm] tag? Because clearly, if there's anything CBS-FM and Shannon don't need, it's Todd Pettingill.

flip to Rock on 95.5 or move NASH FM to 95.5 & get rid of the weak signal 94.7.
The problem of WNSH is not a "weak signal" but the location of the transmitter. WNSH is a Class B FM, just like the stations on the ESB. But spacing requirements force it to stay on a tower in New Jersey, which is not at the center of the market population.
Country does not work in NYC. It was attempted 7 times and failed all times
that's because new yorkers can't relate to southern accents talking about pickup trucks, trailers, mud and cowboy boots....also, surveys show too much twang bends your ear drums...
And yet whenever a country star plays MSG or Giants Stadium, they're the first to put on their boots & hats, and drive their pickup trucks. I've seen them many times.
New York is a city of accents. From the Bronx to Brooklyn to Long Island to Hudson County NJ. They're all different, and they're all New Yawk.
They's poseurs. The nearest pick-em-up truck is licensed to Orange County.
They ain't no nearly Tejas accent in all Noo Yawk. They's Puerto Rican, Irish, English, German, Pakistani, Indian, Aussie, Kiwi, Mexican, Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, Italian, Russian and Jewish but no Texican.
Sounds like you haven't been to New York. Out on Long Island, there's a town called Hicksville. I'm not kidding.
Lots of pick up trucks, and lots of country listeners. Over a million of them at last count. You can make money with a million radio listeners. A lot of stations in NYC would love to have a million listeners.

I shoulda used the SARCASTIC mode 'cause I was being mostly sarcastic. When I lived in Noo Yawk (both the city and Westchester) the fashionable vehicle was a station wagon with wood on the side. You NEVER saw a pickup truck privately owned. Nowadays pick-em-up trucks are quite the trendy vehicle so I would expect you'd see more of 'em even in downtown Noo Yawk although I doubt their drivers would have any green stuff on their boots.
I wonder if there is an 'all women' area of music that they could flip too. One of my FB friends has her man entered in their 'sexiest' man contest. Glad I stopped listening in April. Felt like I was browsing a ladies porn sight looking at some of those barely clothed pictures. ugh. no secret now that they are fully targeting the female audience that had kept them afloat at #12 all those years...

As I understand it, Country isn't popular in the areas that Nash doesn't serve very well and they serve some areas, where it is popular, better than the Empire State Building stations. Under the circumstances, it seems like the perfect format for this facility.
Getting back to PLJ I don't listen for any extended amount of time because i just don't like the mix. I do check tunegenie.com and it if they are accurately listing what PLJ has been playing the last week it proves that there are some strange cuts being aired. Occasional 80s and even one cut from 1959 for a few days. Perhaps a tweak or change of format. What format defines PLJ? Hot A/C or some strange hybrid format?
as a mobile dj..i get a few calls each year for a country music dance party about the same number of Christian music parties ..very few but my friend in danbury gets quite a lot because of 92.5 country out of waterbury ct.
They really are boxed in. Modern Top 40 Pop music is over saturated in NYC. Z, Amp, Ktu, and Fresh are all playing current hit music, there are some differences but really the powers for these stations don't vary all that much, for example animals, all about that bass and rather be were hammered by each of these stations along with plj the lowest rated of the bunch. 80% of the music is exactly the same among 5 stations, that is way too much.
With the ratings that CBS-FM is getting it seems obvious that PLJ should attempt an adult hits format, one that is pop oriented which plays the hits from the 80s to today. Just a few currents and only the biggest ones, the station would need to own the 80s, 90s and 2000s, which is music that they can own as it is under-played, cbs still is limited on their 80s selections as is lite, 90s and 2000s are played almost nowhere and while they don't have a great number of hits, you can still find plenty of gems to define your niche.
You have to really research a library that consists of only the best songs for nyc suburban females 30 to 45 over the last 34 years, a slightly older more gold based but more upbeat mix than what lite is doing.
No "the best mix of the....." type imaging, the music will define to the listener what this station is. It needs to be down to earth, lots of quick listener testimonials. Along the lines of finally a station that plays your music. Not your mom's lite fm cbs fm, not your kids z100, this is your station.
