WPLJ Should Flip To WABC-FM

Seeing as how Scott Shannon has such a recent hard-on for "Oldies"...and now Jack will be sure to steal away what's left of their numbers (IMO)...

ABC should switch 'PLJ to Oldies and rename it WABC-FM. That Modern AC $hit on 'PLJ is useless. It's a dead format.

I like the name change idea. We have Scott's oldies show just outside of Tampa but I really think the music he plays is a better fit for Oldies AM stations.

I posted below that the only way that were to happen is if a lot of money is involved.

Nice pipedream, though, I like it.
______________

They Were WABC-FM Before They Became WPLJ.

The Only Way To Do It Right Though Would Be To Make It

Sound Just Like 77-WABC Did In The 60' & 70's

With The Same Kind Of Jingles And Such.

But It More Than Likely Wouldn't Happen.

Then Again..You Just Never Know.

WPLJ will get hurt more by Jack than any other station. I think that the ratings could end up being so bad on PLJ that they will end up changing formats. Still, oldies would be a surprise. Oldies is the format stations are switching away from in droves. In most markets (with few exceptions such as Nashville), once oldies is gone it's gone forever.

What an opportunity this is for WPLJ!

Cousin Brucie says he will be back. Where? ON FM on WABC(FM)?

Scott Shannon had been involved on the WABC rewound shows and probably has alot of respect for the format. He always talked about the legendary stations on Z-100 and on PLJ.

Those PAMS/TANNER jingles could be rejacked...er reworked.

What a PR stunt and a built in audience this would attract!

Lure in Dan Ingram and company.

Here on LI PLJ doesn't rate very highly. Does it do any better in the other metros? Seems like this could be a move up if they get CBS-FM numbers.

Otherwise there is WLNG on the internet to listen to. They still sound like the 60's.
______________
