WPLM at Low Power temporarily

I just heard an announcement on WPLM that they are running at low power right now for maintenance, and they will return to full power in about 20 minutes.

Ah, so thats why WPLR New Haven was blasting through easily around that time last night. Good tropo conditions helped a lot with that too, but PLM being on low power sure helped.

I've driven by those towers countless times and have noted there's an FM array on at least TWO towers...doesn't WPLM have an auxiliary transmitter?

Yes, they do have an aux antenna on another tower. Maybe the backup TX that they switched to is just lower power, into that other antenna.

Only the Jellyfish can hear this station . Ocean Power 99 !
