WPLM Easy 99.1

I tried going to WPLM's website and the audio stream has not been working for several days, and I cannot receive their stream on any of my wifi internet radios. They had an MP3 stream that worked well, but that appears to have gone. I emailed the station yesterday about this. Anyone know what's going on?

Due to the current business closures causing reduced advertising, the info on the street is WPLM has been hit hard fiscally. As such they have furloughed most of their staff and discontinued streaming. Streaming is expensive for music licensing so this will save them some money.

I'd expect when/if things get back to normal they will start streaming again.

AM Is Off

I don’t if it is intentional/economic or related to the recent wx, but their AM half has been off since at least before 3:30pm yesterday.

Hmm, I know a year or so ago it was off on STA due to issues in the transmission system but its been back for a while. If it is still off tonight may be a good chance to try DXing WFBL 1390 "The Dinosaur" from Syracuse NY. When WPLM-AM was off before this came in surprising well.

Does 1390 actually make any money at all? It's awfully tough for me to imagine that it does.

Is it even in the long term best economic interests of the Campbell ownership to even hang onto the 1390 license?

I’ve thought they should at least try to do some local talk geared toward Plymouth and surrounding towns in the mornings on 1390. A few years ago part of the day was leased out to some finance/business programming but it has been a straight simulcast for quite some years now. I agree I’m surprised they have bothered holding on to it for what they are doing with it.
