WPLP Christmas Carol

20 years ago, Production Director Tony Venuto, Program Director Art Dineen, and the staff of WPLP recorded the Charles Dickens classic tale "A Christmas Carol."

It aired only once, on the night of Christmas Eve 1985.

In March of 1988, WPLP was sold to Susquehanna Broadcasting. Quite a few friends lost their jobs that day. The calls were soon changed to WTKN and plans were made to move the station to new facilities on 4th Street in St. Pete. I watched as tapes of WPLP's old imaging were tossed, but managed to salvage this reel, and it you're interested, you can hear it for yourself.

On this tape you'll hear names and voices that will forever be a part of the "Grand Old Days" of Tampa Bay Talkradio.

You'll hear Bob Lassiter, Nanci Donellan, Don Richards and David Fowler.

Enjoy.

Yes, I agree. This is perhaps the earliest known recording of any of these talk show hosts. I'd love to find someone with some old Miami-era Lassiter tapes.
