That wasn't a bad station back when Pollack had it. They were on 1170 and played adult standards. It had a pretty good signal, too. Hopefully they'll do something with it. They have been approached twice in the past 18 months about selling but never showed interest.

Why do they need an AM K-Love when their 2 overlapping FMs cover the market just fine? That doesn't make any sense to me.

If they ever build out the 1180 facilities with a new tower site in Arkansas, it will allow one or two pther stations to do a few power upgrades.

I honestly don't know why EMF needs the station, with the two FMs already in Memphis and also stations in Ripley and Union City. Also, EMF is buying CPs from Flinn's Broadcasting for the Challenged (Make up your own joke here... ;D ) for stations in Brownsville and Selmer. They should sell 1170 off and take the money and put it into getting a station for Air 1 in the Memphis and West TN area.

Because when EMF wanted to buy 94.7, Pollack wouldn't sell unless they bought KSUD and WPLX as well.

I understand why EMF ended up with WPLX. I just don't understand why they're holding on to it, since they sold KSUD. THe only reason I can see is if they haven't had a chance at a buyer, or they're being selective with who they'll sell to.

Must be selective because they have had the chance and would not return the phone call(s) of someone representing a small group that wanted to buy. Maybe that has changed over the last year.

air 1 is skewed much younger...

the music is more edgy and rock based where k-love is more contemporary...

you can hear air 1 online or on 93.7 if you drive to the NW of Memphis

OK, I'll bite: what is the difference between Air 1 and K-Love?

K-Love is a more adult contemporary Christian station, while Air 1 will play a little more Christian rock. It's something we could use in Memphis. But I wish someone would do a Christian station produced locally, that is more interactive with the city, and WILL play listener requests.
