How long has it been active? I just happened to be killing time between appointments today when I heard WPNN crackling through the static here in Foley. A caller was asking some show host about the FM and I swear the host said they'd been on FM now for three weeks.
I got to a quiet spot in the house and flipped over to FM and sure enough, I heard them during a commercial break on 103.7… Seems like it's going to get out as good as 101.1 or 97.1…
It's been on air broadcasting silence for a couple weeks. WPNN audio just went live a day or two ago. It sounds louder than the other Pensacola translators.
I bet there's still money to be made as the B or C league talker in most towns. Probably not as much as there was 5 or 10 years ago, though. I'd love to hear some of the industry folks weigh in on whether there's money that far down the talk rabbit hole.
I think the new format should be all trickling water and waterfall sounds. They already have the perfect calls to be "Peein' 103.7" all water all the time.
WPNN added FM 103.7 to their TOH ID today. Guess that makes it officially on the air.
Still waiting to see who wins the $200 prize for creating a new station logo.
