In this months "IT" magazine there's an article about "Chick songs"of early Rock 'n Roll.In the article there's some history on Dean Rogers. It mentions that in 1977 Dean Rogers & Dave Dean{didn't he work at 'MGX} at WPNO.Anyone remember that daytimer now silent at 1530.It was called the Super 15.Dean Rogers did mornings and Dave Dean did afternoons.Middays I remember Dick Winner for a while then Mark Reynolds {Mike Bushy}who later went on to 'TOS & 'BLM.Howard Feldman was there for a while.A guy named Bruce Reilly did sign offs in the summer and weekends.Another guy that did middays Frank Lynn aka Charlie Edwards.Anyone remember the station? It was a pretty good sounding Top 40 station.

I remember Mike Bushey describing WPNO, to me, at one point. Apparently the little grave yarder inflicted some serious damage on 5000 watt, full time 1470-WLAM. By the time, I arrived in Maine, 1530 was "Comfortable Country", and for a short time, Oldies, as WRXV. The station was eventually taken over by bible thumpers, until it met its "end times"....

it may sound crazy...i used to listen to wpno in the mid seventies when i worked as a unit head at a summer camp in raymond maine......it was a great station and if I remember right they had a pretty funny sign off when the sun went down...for a daytimer it was one good station i believe they even had a pretty good jingle package and liners......the other 'camp station faves' were wjto, wblm, wtos and wigy...y106 good memories......

yep. Dave Dean moved onto program WGMX into the early 80's.

Dean Rogers went to middays at WCSH, which morphed into WYNZ (upon the sale from Maine Broadcasting to Eastman/Bud Stiker) and took over mornings. then Dean survived the sale to Buckley Broadcasting, retaining the morning thing on WYNZ-AM. the subsequent sale to Saga had Dean on mornings at WYNZ-FM (oldies 100.9). then after a number of years of being (true) highly overworked and underpaid, he accepted an offer to move to WHOM.
one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and very much so deserving of his MAB Hall of Fame membership.
