There is a definite change. The deejays are identified by name in the liners, much like on the old Q. They are talking much more. Dick Reigns
went into a monologue about the Bucs today. If anybody is still here, do you all think COX is making a move based on the turmoil at their main competitor? Sometimes when I have them on in the background, they almost sound like a personality station. You are right, CBS might be easy to take down if COX is smart.

You're wrong on this one too... nothing's changed. And it's not about "taking down" a competitor. It's about managing a group of properties and with them all positioned properly, making money. The days of having one station and going after another are over. Cox doesn't have to be the #1 radio group in Tampa Bay to make the shareholders happy. THAT'S today's radio.

I don't know. The DJ's on the Point even promote each other. Why the change as it used to have only one DJ in AM drive.

If stations don't go after one another, What is BTLS v. MJ. Its like MJ v. DB Copper back in the day. And it sure got attention.

One... BTLS vs. MJ is all Bubba.... That is NOT why Cox hired him. They don't serve the same audience. Cox hired Bubba to own mornings and specificly men 25-54. While "X" skews young, 102.5 skews older... it's all about the sales. And Skip is completely different from the Q DJs being dismissed. Skip was a BIG part of WQYK and was a critical piece in launching US103-5. Trust me, if Clear Channel didn't score someone like Skip, they never would have flipped 103.5. And as far as the rest of the day on The Point... it's a smoke screen. You let me know when you hear those DJs interacting with listeners or doing remote broadcasts. That's a tell tale sign of an automated radio station.

1) I know WHPT and WFLZ do not target the same groups.

2) Bubba did start a radio war and it did garner publicity

3) I know Skip was lured to WFUS.

But to the listener, it came off as old time radio competition.
