WPON Is Still Rocking

After all that has been said about stations abandoning lesser played and obscure songs, WPON Detroit is still playing them. I particularly like Mike Sain on Wednesday morning.

Most of the daytime shows are live. I don't know if anything is voice tracked.

WPON is a commercial AM station and they stream. I am happy with their playlist.

They must play over 3000 songs on the station.<P ID="signature">______________

As a fellow radio oldies foggie, while in the area, I visited them a few years ago. This station is a little independant low-powered suburbaban AM gem and from what I could see, very much appreciated in the Detroit area.

The facility (at least then) was...well...let's say not all that impressive technically. OK...I've seen poor non-comms better equipped...but the folks who showed up to do those brokered oldies shows were wonderful and the music they played were long-lost on the big local "oldies" station.

Too bad more metro areas don't have their own versions of WPON...
They really do a service to the folks there who miss
all the great music of the 50' & 60's.

Thanks for posting the tip. Listening to them now, Friday PM EST, and I really like it. However, I have heard no spots. Would they be deleted from the internet stream, or is it a bad sign for the future?
