WPOP 1410 to talk

Now if they could only fix their stale sister station, WHCN-FM 105.9? They play the same predictable 25 songs over and over, plus take lengthy commercial breaks, usually between :45 to :50 and roughly :12 to :17...EVERY damn hour! (I also refuse to listen to WDRC-FM 102.9 in their current format.)

And they average #2 in 25-54 and #1 in 35-44 and 45-54.

Why would they possibly want to change that?

WPOP was a news-talk station until it switched to sports in 1997. During its time as a talker, WPOP aired local hosts Jeff Katz, Tom Scott and Judy Jarvis, and ran syndicated Rush Limbaugh and Tom Leykis.

A few Hartford Courant stories...

Will they take Rush, Hannity, and Coast-to-Coast AM away from CBS's WTIC 1080?

Will they take FOX News from Connoisseur's WDRC 1360?

Will they still do play-by-play of The Rockcats (soon to be Yard Goats in '16), The Wolfpack, and The CCSU Blue Devils?

They will surely honor the rest of their Rock Cats contract. It's not like baseball and right-wing talk don't mix. The demos for both are white and old. Actually, for minor league baseball play-by-play -- and WPOP's other properties, an AHL hockey team that maybe 5,000 people care about and an insignificant college sports program that even fewer do -- the audience is so tiny that the only station it fits on is one that isn't doing much business in the first place.

So where will the Dan Patrick Show move to in the market? i would like to see it move to FM somewhere with a signal.

WUCS is out -- no way ESPN Radio airs Dan Patrick. Are you suggesting blowing up a music station for a second FM sports talker in the market? Which one? WDRC-FM? WCCC? I think it would take different ownership for either to even consider flipping.

What affiliates does DP air on currently? I don't see why they couldn't shift it to WUCS since it is still a ClearChannel station. Does ESPN have a say in what programming has to air at what time? Would they possibly time shift to later in the day? Since his show airs out of Milford I would assume they would run it somewhere local.
