WPOP Rumor

A co-worker who's a season ticket holder of the New Britain Rockcats heard a rumor that WEEI is trying to get their programming on Clear Channel's WPOP. It probably makes a lot of sense since the 105.5 and 103.7 don't bring in a solid signal in central Connecticut. If this rumor did come true, WPOP still would have a contractual obligation to carry the Yankees through the length of the contract. Has anyone else heard this rumor?

No. Plus we've already got the dreaded Red Sox nearby on a 50,000 watt station. That's bad enough. :(

What about WDRC-AM 1360? The Yankees were there in 1996, if I'm not mistaken.

God, I hope not. While during the day I get decent reception of both WDRC 1360 and WMMW 1470, at night forget about it. Though at night I currently listen to Dr. Joy on WSNG 610, which is somewhat listenable (you can hear WIP underneath), if I'm listening to the game I will refuse to change my radio from 1360 during the day to 610 at night.

DAYTIME: At the moment, I found the one spot with my radio's AM antenna to intentionally make WPOP-AM 1410 Hartford as weak as I can. Otherwise, they "bleed" all over the upper half of the dial. However, reception of WDRC-AM 1360 and WCBS-AM 880 (New York City) are both almost nothing. I do get a slightly better signal of WBZ-AM 1030 (Boston) like this though. At this moment, I'm getting a very weak signal of WLIS-AM 1420 from Old Saybrook with slight interference from WPOP-AM.

NIGHTTIME: In the same postion, WPOP-AM is even worse and the signal pops in and out since the radio has trouble sensing it. WDRC-AM is almost gone to the point that I get a weak signal of another station on 1360. It may be from Binghamton, NY. Also, 1390 AM starts to come in a bit. I think it was a station from Syracuse, NY. WCBS-AM 880 (New York City) is only slightly better.
