WPRB off the air tomorrow

For "emergency maintenance" according to on-air announcements. They will be signing off at 12 midnight tonight, with an expected return of Sunday morning.

I think so. They did when I worked there.

Now the website is saying that they plan to be back on Sunday afternoon. They need to address (and presumably correct) a radon issue in the building. Hell, couldn't they have thrown together an auxiliary studio? All you really need is a computer.

I would have been excited about this if it happened 5 years ago when 103.5 KTU was actually good and I was living 3 miles from WPRB's transmitter. Now, who cares?

Is it me or is 103.3 WPRB the worst station in the country?
Ive been to almost every major city from north to south, and its just brutal.
Should be cool to see what we can DX on 103.1 or 103.3 ....

WPRB is a college station playing the stereotypical unknown "college rock" that CMJ spews out, and 103.3 just happens to be in the commercial band. For all few of you Rhythmic AC fans in Mercer county, you can hear KTU, boo hoo. I agree, I have been to a lot of major cities and DXed a lot more, and WPRB is the worst station in the commercial FM band, no doubt about it. I don't think I can forgive them for making me struggle to hear KTU back when they were good, now I just don't care about them. 103.1 will be WBZO or WRNR, 103.3 will be WARM or WESR if there's tropo. One time there was e-skip, and I heard KLOU from St Louis on 103.3, only 2 miles from the WPRB transmitter! If WPRB still streams off the FM radio, listen to its stream when it goes off the air (that's about the only time I ever listen to its stream). Their radio's pretty sensitive, and you can hear DX (or KTU's IBUZ trash) on it.
