WPRI Advertising for a new co-host for The Rhode Show

I was looking at the ads on Criagslist for Rhode Island and stumbled upon a help wanted ad for a new co-host for The Rhode Show on Fox Providence. It is not for the spot that that is awarded through a talent search. This is for one of their permanent spots. Who is leaving? Is it Patrick, Danielle or Courtney? Is Danielle moving into Erin Kennedy's spot? Where is Erin going?

Ah yes, Craigslist - the place where you can hire a hooker, a talk show host in Providence or a dog walker. True one-stop shopping for the budget-minded citizen of modest means.

Way to keep it professional Fox Providence!

The second irony here is that the OP didn't seem to find it strange that a network affiliate in a Top 50 market would use Craigslist to find "talent" for their station! :D

The FCC requires that broadcast stations distribute job openings to SEVERAL different locations, both virtually and physically. You act like Craigslist is the only place that the job opening has been placed. It is not. I can assure you, the job opening is posted in several places, and Craigslist is just one of them. Doesn't mean the hire is going to come from there.

Precisely! And, best of all, craigslist is free and visited by many. That said, the job is on wpri.com as well.

It still reeks of desperation or, at the minimum, a lack of professionalism. You don't see top engineering companies or financial institutions placing want ads in craigslist - yet all manage to meet EEOC guidelines quite nicely.

If you want a professional, you don't look to craigslist; however, if you're looking for an exotic dancer or a nightman for a pawn shop - then that's your place.

It's the same as every year... new cohost to replace the one they hired last year... It's part of the contest.

This was supposedly in addition to the annual position. Both are listed on the wpri website.

The Rhode Show has 5 new girls in the competition to replace Makayla Johnson.Nobody else can put in for that position. In my opinion, WPRI management should of given Karen Adam's slot to Danielle North. She has been with the station since the late 90's. And she has enough roots in the area. And knows it well. She does great in mornings, but would be outstanding at night. With Channel 10 starting morning news now during the 4am hour. Will WPRI follow?

It has already been announced that WPRI will also start their am news at 4:30, just a couple of days after WJAR's announcement. What about WLNE?
