WPRI HD?

I sure hope they go to HD soon. I've just been watching a lot more Boston News since all those channels broadcast in HD. I hate watching a standard definition picture on my HD Television set. Those black bars on the side drive me crazy. WBZ used to make them a dark purplish color which was much better than solid black. Providence stations should at least do that until they go to HD.

I wonder if this bodes well for WTNH here in New Haven and WWLP in Springfield? LIN ownes both channels as well as WPRI.

Yeah my bet is that WPRI will be the first Newscast in Providence to go HD. I would guess WJAR in 2010 and WLNE in 2030. lol

I wouldn't be surprised. It always seemed like in terms of Newscast, WPRI is basically the WHDH of Providence.

Actually, watching them recently, I have noticed not too much sensationalism. It is a lot better then watching it about 6 months ago. I would say that WLNE is actually more like the "WHDH" of the Providence market, they really like to sensationalize things now.

For example, on two separate occasions, I saw these promos (complete with dramatic V/O)

Tonight on ABC6 NEWS at 11! A popular informercial product, snuggies, FLAMMABLE! Our investigation uncovers the danger of these popular products!
-Shows a "Snuggie" sitting on a lamp, and catching on fire.

Tonight on ABC6 NEWS at 11! Could your child's pajamas be FLAMMABLE! Our investigation uncovers the hidden danger affecting every child!

They're an HD presentation about PPAC with Karen Adams Satuday at 7:30 PM. I wonder if they will do anything with their newscasts for the launch of MyRITV on WNAC-DT2?
