WPRI-TV HD

I'm watching the broadcast of the "CVS Caremark 5k Wrap" in HD on channel 12 right now. If the quality of this broadcast is any indication, WPRI/WNAC will clearly be the best HD news broadcast locally.

Their field camera work is clear and crisp, and the studio shots are very high quality as well. WPRI shot in the field yesterday with their own photographers, and they are using their new set to host this broadcast.

I can't wait to see the final product when they launch news in HD, it looks like it will be worth the (LONG) wait!

It will beat six, who has issues with its new video system, showing the wrong story, no video, no sound, and the few live segments look horrid.

Not to mention the WLNE meteorologists look about 2 feet tall.. very awkward green screen camera angle

WPRI is now broadcasting news in HD!

The set looks amazing. They are using the same on-screen graphics, but using them in their intended HD.

The broadcast looks superior to WLNE and to WJAR.

They, however, are having a lot of technical issues in their first broadcast.

The cameras look like they are now robotic, and are doing some funky things (such as turning around to a new camera position mid-story).

Lots of errors for 12 this afternoon, I wonder if they didn't do a live rehearsal(or enough of them?) before hand.

The set looks great, as does the entire broadcast. I'm impressed, they went HD quicker than 10 as well. How many months did it take 10 to build the set? 3? 4?

Yes, there are a LOT of errors. From what I hear the set has been finished for a few weeks now, and they have been doing rehearsals. Hopefully they get used to all of the new equipment fairly quick!

Yea, the technical errors are pretty bad. The set looks pretty good, but I think I still like WJAR's better. Theirs seems kinda small - only a few areas for standups.

by my count, there are 3 standup areas, a standup area for weather and a weather center, as well as the main anchor area. That's a lot more options then 10.

Techincal errors continue today 9-21. Noon news the camera went crazy & panned the entire set. Why can't they use a live human for camera operations with HD? If this is a budget matter? Whoever made the decision is lacking in good judgement.
