WPRO AM Does it again- great work

Just before noon WPRO AM 630 had breaking news and extensive coverage on former Mayor Vincent Cianci's resentencing, and the coverage continued for about 25 minutes. What was on WHJJ???? Al Frankenberry. Keep it up WHJJ, and your ratings will be about a 1.

WPRO is the obvious dominant force in Rhode Island talk radio. WHJJ was great in the 80's. Unfortunately HJJ lost their footing, their staff and all their marbles.

News Radio 1180am reported the news around 11:30 am as well.

Actually, HJJ was the first in the market to break in with the story. While Laurie Johnson was still describing Buddy's daughter running crying from the courtroom ... WHJJ already had the sentencing announced. WPRO had no details until minutes later.

Did you even listen to WHJJ at all -- I mean to ANY of their coverage?

Y'Know...HJJ was great up until about about a year and a half ago. No need to go back to the 80's, "for cryin' out loud" (apologies to Arlene Violet). When PD Bill Hess was there, DePetro still cared about HJJ (and not about leaving it), and the news department was a credible force, WHJJ was THE station. The Arbitron ratings and street cred. proved it.

I heard HJJ with the Cianci thing, then flipped to PRO. That's what we news junkies do! WHJJ had it first - 'PRO hadn't gotten it on the air yet. However, WPRO stayed with it longer. The greater amount of local/non-network talk-show programming during the day is what gives WPRO a clear edge. If everyone keeps the status quo, I'll look for HJJ's ratings to wash out some storm drain into the Naragansett one of these books.
