WPRO down again to 4.8

did anyone see june ppm? new owners coming and WPRO is down yet again, now to a 4.8. What changes were made where now they seem down the past few books? Personally, I am not a fan of the morning fluff with the new people.. I like matt at night.

We noticed the drop in ratings too. The mng program is too fast moving for us. They announce the news at such speed that it makes
us wonder what they just said. Another thing, they're interviewing
someone and in the middle of the persons answer they interrupt
t o go on to a new story. Grr We notice a complete lack of interest in the the Mayor's show recently. The shifting around of the shows was a complete mistake.

The frantic pace of the morning news is way too much for me as well. I didn't know the news was a timed event! ;)

Obviously.....I must be outside the demo that WPRO is trying to target. No wonder I find myself taking refuge for morning news at 1290-WRNI. ;D

With the PPM's down....I wonder what the numbers-crunchers at Cumulus will make of things when they finally get to town?

Things could get interesting......

I agree. Morning news is frantic and inconsequential. Who cares about the temperature in Bar Harbor? Who wants to hear the health report in the first segment of news? How the hell many teases can you make in a 6 minute newscast? What's point of having a WPRO temperature, a WPRO Time check, a WPRO traffic report, a WPRO ozone alert, a WPRO sports report, a WPRO school lunch menu, a WPRO "Star Spangled BAnner..." Give it a break! Some of us have an attention span greater than 10 seconds, or should I say, "10 WPRO seconds " Haberman should be a barker with a circus show. Or maybe he
could replace F E Boone, the Tobacco auctioneer for LUCKY STRIKES: "...Sold to WPRO Americans!"

I predict Ron St. Pierre will be running things again and return to mornings. I agree about the mayor who seems lost with the same old lines. New owners coming in, look at falling numbers, and want to make changes. I like how the morning girl has a guest and the first thing she says is" we don't have much time". Sounds so small time.

Looking at the gains and losses for the last 3 months, I think there is some meter placement adjustments going on and the usual listening changes due to the summer season. While the measurement meathod has changed, the actual listening hasn't....EEI & The Hub both benefitted from the Bruins run to the cup, we'll see what happens in July's numbers as I think they will both cool off (The Hub a little more than EEI because EEI has the Sox).

Maybe the problem is that conservative talk radio has finally started to fade a bit. This has happened in other markets, including Miami and even in Boston. Outside of morning drive, when the hosts parrot each other all day long, listeners are bored. The programs are predictable. Rhode Island listeners are better than that.

talk radio is not dying. WPRO is struggling a bit. very well could be the summer effect.
the wpro morning news with tara and andrew is horrible. like tara and bill, can't stand andrew.
left the wpro morning news for imus in the morning over on AM 790.
depetro, yorke, and cianci need to spice things up a bit and not stay in the same routine.
i always say that cornetta at least has a thoughtful conversation on something other than RI politics.
it's talk radio, the conversation needs to roll.

The Sports Hub will have the Patriots soon...while EEI will have the Sox in the Post Season..problem EEI will have in the fourth quarter of 2011 and the first quarter of 2012 will be the NBA lockout..if its not solved, that means Boston College PBP and not much else until Spring Training Baseball in March..while 98.5 will get the Bruins back in the fall..

What is killing the morning show is the moronic adherence to "traffic and weather every 10 minutes" when you add in the ads, news tickles, etc. there is very little time to talk with guests to produce interesting, informative dialogues.

There is no need for Habby to tickle the news at :20 and :50 after the hour. If you are going to listen to the news on the hour or half, a tickle is not likely going to change you mind if you're going to work in the AM.

Maybe traffic updates are most relevant between 8 and 9, but I imagine there is a cyclic nature so that most days at a given time you'll find the same traffic, barring accidents.

I like Bill Haberson, but who are these two anchor people? Are they in Providence? I was at a family cookout and nobody could name them or had heard of them. All anyone said was they talk to fast and they seem to laugh alot. Maybe this was a consultant idea?

wknd94-the man's name is Bill Haberman, a vet of the station and market for almost 20 years. Also the morning show has Tara Granahan, who has been with the station for a while and previously was on ABC^ for at least 10 years and Andrew Gobiel who just recently came to the station; but came over from ABC6 after a 3-5 year run on the news there.

As far as the run between EEI & The Hub, what they have for teams on the air matters little (yes, EEI has some day games like today, The Hub does when there is pre season/Monday nite games that leak over into drive time with the pre game), it is the talk about those teams that will be driving those ratings....the Celts are going to get left behind in this town if the lockout is prolonged.
