WPRO-FM very bad sound quality?

How come WPRO-FM have a very bad sound quality? The audio quality sounds flat and there's no dynamic to it, but sister station WWLI-FM sounds little clear but still not near CD quality. But when i go to Boston Springfield and Hartford with my Zune 30GB MP3 player which has built in FM radio and RDS i notice that this stations like WBMX WJMN WHYN and WKSS has the best sound quality like CD and i can't believe an analog signal could sound like CD quality. And this is why i don't listen to WPRO-FM the sound quality is very bad and what's the problem, an old audio processor or engineers bad calibrated the audio processor???

I don't know what you are talking about regarding Pro-FM. But I think I'm going to buy a Zune Mp3 player because of you.

I tend to have a very critical ear when it comes to sound processing and sound quality, just ask Jeff Lehmann or Richard Cabral sometime. And in my personal opinion, WHYN-FM is one of the best sounding FM stations on the dial, period. Definatley in the top 5 in New England and of all the stations I have listened to this on, in the top 5 total. Chris Tracy has done an excellent job with that station's sound quality.

Sorry for the thread de-rail, I just had to comment about that, even though it's not a Prov. station.

Microsoft discontinue Zune 30GB but you could still buy a Zune like the Zune HD which has HD radio.

What kind of processor does WHYN-FM use orban or omnia?

I have to agree that WHYN-FM is one of the best processed stations I have ever heard.

I couldn't care less about HD radio. There are barely any HD stations. I want the 30GB.
It's ok. I'll find it. Discontrinued or not..... there is one out there somewhere.

It will soon be mine! BWAHAHAHAHA ;D

Well Microsoft is still selling the older model of Zune 80GB and 120 GB which is kind like the same has mine but a newer design and with same built in FM radio/RDS here the link http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/mp3players/default.htm

How good quality is the Zune built-in radio? I think I've asked that before with the new iPod Nano. I had an iPod a few years ago with one of those add-on FM radio things, and I didn't think it was all that great. Have they gotten better?

Well it depends on the radio station some will sound CD quality and some not like Pro FM and kc101 are worse sounding station that i know. And the best sounding station that i know is WBMX, WJMN, WHYN and WKSS.

Okay, but how good are these units with DX? On my first iPod radio DX really was not very good. My old Sony walkman does a better job at that.

My Zune 30gb is all wright but SanDisk Sansa is better receiving stereo in long distance but it doesn't have built in RDS. Also i heard that zune hd is better in receiving long distance hd signals than table top hd radios.

I have one. I wouldnt use it as an indicator of station sound quality. Its a portable device like a walkman thus depending on your location to the transmitter. PRO-FM sounds fine on my Onkyo home system in Coventry.

Well I listened to all three examples multiple times with headphones on. I'm guessing that you need to have the hearing of a dog to really notice much difference. But I do think I noticed what you are talking about. Pro-Fm sounds a little muddy. They might want to boost the treble a bit on their equalizer. It will brighten the sound. As it stands it does kind of sound like all of their tracks are being run on an old tape machine with a dirty playing head.

Thats what im talking about. Pro-FM sounds very muddy on Analog but on HD radio it sounds better but that doesn't mean that HD radio sound better. Analog can sound near CD quality too. Here is another example Pro-FM recording but in HD Radio and in Analog Versus Mix 93.1 in Analog.
