WPRO is hurting , WHJJ is gaining

I decoded what Dave Barber means, BARKING DOG..........

How I wish hjj was local at 9 instead of 10. :(
 
Wonder how much money Arlene Violet is getting from Chief Thomas and
the Narragansetts.
I'm triing to figure out who is a bigger [EDIT] artist! Her or Barber?

I TRYED to listen to Yorke today, but he was making brupping noises, so I put Arlene on.
There she was SCREAMING at Bruce Lang, her and Narragansett Cheif Tomas.
She was SUPPOSED to be in the middle.
We have some of the worst talk radio.
listen to NY, Boston, Hartford. What a difference! NOT ONE of these people have TALENT.

You are right. Talk Radio in Rhode Island is just plain bad. There is only one local talent worth listening to and the screwballs at WPRO demoted him.
 
I had quite a talk with a friend who worked at both pro and hjj.
They told me Jim Corwin, G M hjj and Barbra Haynes pro, are best of friends.
The reason Violet runs hjj is her ' name recogintion' even though her ratings are terrible.
Howie ( I exposed myself) Barte is a kook koo clock, but a big friend of Arlene.
The only full timer that is 'normal sounding' is Helen Glover. At least she's trying.
Dan Yorke tries to be funny and never is. The screaming is sickening. Hes boring, boring, but
I don't believe he has agendas, like Arlene.
The morning man Dave Barber is a 'Huckster', phooney as a 3 dollar bill.
Both stations need a house cleaning.

Boy is that ever true. Talk about screwing up a sure thing.
 
But he's ON this week, ALL WEEK!
Matt Allen, WPROs best Talk show host is on 3 to 7 pm all this week.
Strange as it may be, the fillins are the best hosts on WPRO and Whjj.

So these supposed talk radio afficionadoes here praise Allen to the skies but don't know he's on this week?LOL.They're like talk radio callers.They call/post to hear themselves rather than listen.

I've caught Mat Allen twice this week, very good.
No screaming, no pregnant pauses. No boring topics.
Perhaps Dan could stay on vacation. Perhaps Arlene Violet could

Matt Allen is interesting, but every time I listen in, I feel like I'm overhearing a conversation between two 20 year old boys in love with the Godfather and the GOP.

Not that it's not entertaining some of the time, just not all the time.

The last time I heard Helen Glover she still sounded like a novice deer-in-the-headlights, very stilted, not very well armed to go to battle with callers.

Howie Bart is a complete joke. He'll live out his contract, not much more.
 
Matt Allen is really my favorite talk show host on town. The other day I was sitting in my car listening to him talk about a press release he received regarding Monkey's. Just little things like that I find very amusing. He seems like such a down to earth guy. Somebody who could be your best friend. I think that's one way I relate to him. He's not full of himself. Not at all uptight and he's very relaxed. It makes you feel comfortable just listening to him.

I think the new numbers show hjj is gaining on pro.
The 'WHOLE SHARE' for both stations (mostly PRO) are down.
Thats not good.
 
RI radio in the morning has gotten so bad, I pre-set my coffee and stream other city's stations from my computer in the AM.

I will say this, HJY in the morning is great with Doug and Kevin filling in. HJY is great when Paul is in and Al is out. Al and his constant Yoko Ono type impressions have just become unbearable.

Coast FM, I like the music but that morning show is soooooooooo canned. Joanie will talk about a subject, Pharmy throws in a one-line and then right to commercials. Are they pre-taped?
 
Hello there, A M morning talk radio has gotten so bad I preset my blender.
A Pina Colada is so REFRESHING in the morning. Once I hear Dave Barbers vioce, I start drinking HEAVILY!
Truly by 12 I have a skull full of MUSH..
When I hear all the bad talk radio around here, it gives me great pleasure to know I have my dear friend
Jack Daniels to turn to.

Now that I've seen the ratings, if WHJJ wants to actually win the numbers war, then fire Barte and put a conservative in his slot.
Work on Helen, she still sounds like a robot.
Stir Violet away from the war and keep her on local.
Promote the heck out of Savage.By Christmas Barte should be GONE!!!
 
Ever since the invention of streaming I honestly couldn't care less if my radio blew up. There is such better programming available from other cities. I may live in Rhode Island but it doesn't mean I have to listen to the crap that's broadcast from here.

Those old enough will remember when 630 was WPRO and 920 was WJAR.

And, with a few exceptions during the early days of all-music radio, those two battled it out for #1 in whatever ratings were being done at the time.

Not unlike television. WJAR-TV mostly dominant, WPRO (later WPRI-TV) running second but with occasional flashes of brilliance. WTEV (now WLNE) sucking hind.........

Runs sort of like that with politics, too. Yup. Creatures of habit.

Or maybe just a bunch of radios broken in such a way that they get only 630 or 920?
 
Hi, Well it really is only WHJJ and WPRO as far as AM talk is concerned.
I heard Geoff Charles at HJJ was lobbying Jim Corwin for night talk again.
Geoff got his wish. He will be on Saturday nights 8 pm to 12 am.
A good way to contain a problem
So I will enjoy listening to Matt Allen in for Dan today!
Being ONE of his EX Wives, I need those checks to keep comming!
