WPRS Paris gors N/T

Noticed that Midwest fliped WPRS am 1440 from oldies to news talk Aug 1st. Can't see that working well without local news and maybe one local talk show. Are they trying to reach the Terre Haute market? If so, why not flip 95.9 in Terre Haute to n/t and move "The Valley" to 98.5. Seems kind of nuts to compete with HI-99. Your thoughts?

You should be running that cluster. The only thing 1440 is good for is maybe paid religion...and that is doubtful. N/T on FM in Terre Haute should work since there is no reliable NT that reaches that market. Good idea.

Wow...WPRS has such a rotten signal in Terre Haute it's hard to believe that they're changing it to N/T. If I remember, that's been tried before and it fell right on its face.

Besides, no tradio program? I did a PT stint at WPRS 8+ years ago and I remember being a substitute host for the "You're On the Air" tradio program once...and once was quite enough.

So, is Midwest just ripping everything out of Paris altogether? I know Paris is a hole (I grew up there...I know), but I can't see what they're doing as a positive for the city of license.

The company that brought the stations in "94" really screwed them up bad. Same old story, accountants without experience trying to run a broadcast operation while taking every dollar of town as soon as they get it.

They have a great lineup, but no local news, or even a local talk show! They sound so so in Terre Haute. Sorry, you folks at Midwest need to either find a way to improve the am 1440 signal, or move it to Terre Haute on one of your FM stations. And by the way hire, someone to do local news.
