wprv965.com and 965wprv.com

I noticed that the wprv965.com and 965wprv.com domains have both been registered and "parked" at register.com. Curious to see who registered them, I looked them both up at the following URL:

http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp

I was surprised to see who registered both domains. I'd like to know what others think of this move. Is it truly a move by CC to cybersquat, or is it just a prank?

You can also use the following URL to do a "whois" on the domains:

http://www.register.com/retail/whois.rcmx

he also has wprv949.com and 949wprv.com I also looed up wmoj.com mojos old domain name and radio one is now owners of it. wmoj1003.com is also registered.

I guess what the bleeps at CC do is legal, but they have no ethics. They act like high school bullies, spoiled brats, you name it. Why do they need the domains listed? Clearly they don't. Cumulus or the new owners should have been smart enough to have registered the names before they applied for the call letters.

They're privately listed registrations... how do we know that Cumulus isn't behind it? Clear Channel has done this sort of thing in the past, certainly, but for right now it's not obvious who's doing the squatting.

actually, they're not privately registered. Follow the link and you will find out that they are registered to Darryl Parks! So I think it is obvious what is going on...very funny as well!

So what if Darryl Parks registered them? It was not on behalf of CC as far as one can tell. In Phoenix, when KTAR announced it's plans to move to 92.3, one of the local managers registered ktar923.com for himself and I, not an employee of KTAR, registered two similar names, not on behalf of any organization I'm associated with but for myself as a sort of joke. Big deal.

I don't have a problem with Darryl Parks doing it...didn't know if you were speaking to me about this since I brought up his name. I didn't mention CC either...I think it is brilliant! You can look at it as a great block, or the opportunity to sell them for a little dough. It sounds like they got what they wanted regardless though!

While cute, it won't stand up. Case law shows this. Same with Jimbo Bryant registering every form of Cat Country and Wolf for 94.9 and 96.5. Neato dumpter diving nostagia...but no longer legal :'(

Domain squatting is not illegal yet. It's just unethical and looked down upon. Like CC is a business with ethics anyway.
