WPTC Williamsport Sold

Hi Everyone.

I don't usually post on this board, as I'm not from central PA. But I thought some of you might be interested in this.

It was announced on Friday that WPTC (88.1) has been sold by Pennsylvania College of Technology. The sale is the result of the school's decision to end its media program.

Few details are known at this point. I have ties to the station, as I host two syndicated Jazz shows which have been airing there for several years. Here is what I know thus far:

-The station was sold to a "local broadcaster".
-The sale price: $125,000
-It's not clear what the new format on 88.1 will be, but, I'm told the new owner is considering retaining Jazz programming in some form.

If I find out anything else concerning this sale, I'll pass it along.

Scott Fybush had more information on his column today regarding the sale of this radio station. The head of the non-profit organization that bought this station is indeed a local broadcaster. Todd Bartley runs WLYC 1050/104.1 which is the ESPN affiliate in Williamsport.
