WPTR 1240 to CBS Sports Radio

How's this for thought or possibility:

Capital Media Corp (WHAZ) Buys 1460 and moves the call and religious format to 1460.
Empire Buys 1330 and simulcasts CBS sports with 1240.
Empire ends agreement with YNN and 900 also goes CBS sports, a trimulcast.
NEPR sells 1400 now that they have that 250 watt translator on 93.1 covering Albany and YNN ends up on 1400.
This would give the CBS sports format much better coverage in the tri-cities.

Reportedly, the last song that they played before the explosion was "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen.
Prior to that, it was "For The Good Times" by Ray Price.
1.In all seriousness, what were they thinking when they decided to flip ?
Do they actually think they'll achieve better ratings than Oldies/Classic Hits ? They were well positioned against others with their music selection and approach, compared to others in the format or hybrid classic hits stations, yet they did zero promotion.
2.Add to that, at night, I used to lose that station just before Exit 24 heading East on the Thruway, so the coverage is major challenge in it's own right. If it covers 6 to 8 miles, at night, that's a lot. ( Aren't most of the games and other sports breaking events in the evening ?)
Whenever there was flooding at their site, the audio would get muffled and full of hum and distortion for days at a time. It's like they didn't care, nor did they even monitor what they were transmitting. A disgrace.
3.Logistically, there will now be three all sports stations, and in terms of ratings, I think it isn't even close, between the two that were on prior to 1240's flip. Even New York City with a much larger population and more fanatic sports community supports only two all sports stations.
4. They made no announcement of any change on the air. I thought whatever non music stuff they were broadcasting was a brief NASCAR related blurb like they used to dump on top of or in the middle of songs, but sadly, no, it wasn't.
Here's the silver lining, we won't be hearing sounds with only half the music, because they couldn't "mono" the songs, and played only one channel.

Now that WPTR flipped to CBS Sports Radio, is WEOK/WALL will be next? I hope Poughkeepsie and Middletown will soon be dumping Scott Shannon's "True Oldies Channel" to make way for CBS Sports Radio. Because the Hudson Valley has three oldies/classic hits stations that don't support at all. Such as WGNY's "Fox Oldies", and WBPM. I hope that "Fox Oldies" would bring in half of the former WPTR's listeners from that loss of the station. But I don't see WEOK/WALL flipping to CBS Sports Radio anytime soon.

This station needs to stream over the internet so people can listen. If you search the station on Google it comes up on the Tunein radio app, but when you try to access it a audio message plays this station does not broadcast on the internet.

Empire Broadcasting former NAB president Joe Reilly you should know this...
